SSSO 2023-24 Season
The 2023-24 season theme is “Heroes, Legends and Fairy Tales.” Each program will explore works inspired by historical and fictional heroes including new works, selections from the classical canon, and Broadway, television, and film scores.
- Concert I: “American Legends” featuring guest pianist Philip Edward Fisher in Barber’s “Piano Concerto, Op. 38,” Corigliano’s “Elegy (1965),” music from John Williams’ “Lincoln,” and more.
- 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 — Zankel Music Center, Skidmore College
- 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 — MainStage at Proctors
- *Special Concert: “Poinsettia Pops” kicks off the holiday season with the classics.
- 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 — Universal Preservation Hall
- Concert II: “Legends from around the World” with Bethlehem Central High School senior, William Lauricella.
- 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 — MainStage at Proctors
- Special Concert: “Animaniacs: In Concert!” is a zany evening filled with world-famous songs from the beloved cartoon series.
- 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 — MainStage at Proctors
- Concert III: “A Legend of the Opera” featuring Johann Strauss’ English concert version of “Die Fledermaus.”
- 3 p.m. March 17 — Zankel Music Center, Skidmore College
- Concert IV: “Vestiges, Heroes and Legends” features flutist Linda Chesis, Saratoga Voices and the Albany Chamber Choir.
- 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27 — Universal Preservation Hall
- 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28 — MainStage at Proctors
