Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony to honor First Responders with “Seven O’Clock Shout”

The Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony will perform composer Valerie Coleman’s “Seven O’Clock Shout” as part of our concert at Proctors Theatre on February 6th. “Shout” is an anthem inspired by the tireless frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and the heartwarming ritual of evening serenades that brought people together amidst isolation to celebrate life and the sacrifices of heroes. The piece gradually builds up to that moment at 7 p.m. when cheers, claps, clanging of pots and pans, and shouts ring through the air of cities around the world.

Join the SSSO for this program on the mainstage at Proctors Theater, 3 p.m. Sunday, February 6, which also features Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait” with Guest Narrator Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, and Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” symphony honoring Martin Luther.

Tickets are available at Proctors Box Office in person, by calling 518-346-6204, or online.
